Meetings & Events Australia Ltd is an independent non profit body with a national office and seven branch secretariats around Australia. Each branch runs an education program through out the year. Ms Anne Jamieson Chief Executive Officer – Saxton Speakers Bureau
Anne’s experience is extensive and includes senior executive roles with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Accor Hotels and Resorts, InterContinental Hotel Groups, and Radisson Hotels Asia Pacific. Her accolades include Best Performance and Risk Taker Starwood Hotels and Resorts 2007, MEA Hall of Fame for Best Conference Venue, AHA Award for Best Hotel Local 2007 whilst at The Westin; and winner of the InterContinental Hotels Group “Sales Team of the Year” for impact and influence. Anne is currently Chief Executive Officer of Saxton Speakers Bureau and is Chair of Meeting Events Australia (MEA). Anne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to MEA.
Ms Kate Smith AMM
Managing Director – WALDRONSMITH Management
As Managing Director of WALDRONSMITH Management, Kate Smith brings to the role 30 years experience in the business events industry, primarily in the hotel and conference management sectors. Kate offers clients substantial knowledge and expertise in the strategic planning and delivery of international and national conferences throughout Australia. Understanding the complexity of the market, Kate works extensively with suppliers and major stakeholders in the industry to ensure effective relationships produce outstanding results for clients and their delegates. Kate is actively involved in the business events industry and is genuinely passionate about the role that she undertakes.
Alana is the founder of Milestone Creative Australia, which celebrates 10 years in 2018. Alana is an industry professional with 25 years' experience, and has been instrumental in the acquisition, development and marketing of the largest and most prestigious Business and Major events and destinations in Australia. Alana is active in the industry, has served 2 years on the MEA Board and prior to that, 8 years on MEA NSW Branch. She is an Accredited Fellow Member of MEA, was awarded Sales, Marketing or Business Development Person of the Year and the National Award for Event Marketing at the Meetings & Events Australia National Awards in 2018.
Michael has been working in the meetings and events industry for over 25 years. After completing a graduate diploma of Australian Tourism, he began working for Club Méditerranée as a 'gentil organisateur' working as a group leader and entertainment officer for resort guests, conference delegates and incentive groups.
Upon returning to Melbourne, Michael commenced a career in events working with Staging Connections as a Venue Services manager, posted in venues such as Carlton Crest (Pullman Albert Park), Park Hyatt Melbourne and Crown Towers.
He worked for a short time with Haycom Staging before commencing a career in the exhibition industry in 2006 with Expohire, which became Exponet in 2008, where he remained as the Melbourne Sales Manager over eight years before moving to Harry the hirer as the General Manager of Exhibitions at Harry the hirer.
General Manager, Sales with Melbourne Convention Bureau
Beverley Williamson is the General Manager, Sales with Melbourne Convention Bureau. Since Beverley joined MCB in 2007 she has held the positions of Senior Bid Manager; Associate Director Convention Sales and Director Bids and PCO Partnerships. Before joining MCB, Beverley held positions with Freehills (Melbourne) as Event Manager; Fox Events (Melbourne) as Director of Events; and Martlet Conferences and Exhibitions (United Kingdom) as Event Manager.
Bev is a Senior Executive with verifiable year-after-year success within a rapidly changing international environment. She is a strategic thought leader who excels in combining big picture thinking with articulate execution. She has extensive experience in international bidding, sales and business development strategies and is highly successful in building relationships with C-level decision makers. Her skill set includes government relations, member engagement, stakeholder management, budget planning and management, event legacies, commercial partnership opportunities, not for profit expertise, business growth, strategy development, revenue generation and national and international business development.
Beverley holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Tourism Management from the University of Brighton, United Kingdom.
Suzana Bishop has over 20 years’ experience in the events industry. Suzana’s experience includes senior leadership roles with some of Melbourne's most esteemed event organisations, including the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), The Australian Grand Prix and The Royal Agriculture Society (Royal Melbourne Show).
Suzana is highly experienced in delivering marketing and commercial strategies and is a passionate advocate for the tourism and visitor economy.
An Events and Engagement professional with over 16 years' experience, Paula has produced world-class events for global brands in both the agency and corporate arenas and brings a wealth of knowledge on event strategy and management. She has sharp expertise in creating event strategies that deliver innovative client-centric experiences to drive change, engagement and commercial results.
Paula headed up event strategy and events for Business and Institutional Banking at the Commonwealth Bank for nearly eleven years and managed a number of high profile international accounts prior to this whist working on the event agency side. This combined experience has created a wealth of insights on the challenges and trends facing the industry today.
Paula is currently managing a number of thought leadership, community and STEM outreach programs for the Bank including Wired for Wonder along with future-fit workforce planning. Paula has a bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Marketing and Public Relations from the University of Canberra. She began her career as a travel agent for Flight Centre and went on to work at a renowned wholesale travel company before entering the world of events.
She is an ethical, accountable and passionate industry professional who is also a committee member of the Sydney Event Network.

Ms Robyn Johnson
Chief Executive Officer – Meetings & Events
Robyn Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer of Meetings & Events Australia that is a not for profit organisation representing 600 members in the events sector. Meetings and Events Australia offers professional development and educational programs, accreditation and recognition. It provides a forum for members to discuss current issues to improve the delivery of events.
Prior to this role Robyn was the Managing Director of an event management company that organised international and national conferences for the association, government and corporate sectors.
Robyn is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a solid background in developing and implementing business strategies for organisations.
Linda Gaunt is the Chief Executive Officer of Meetings & Events Australia - MEA (formerly the Meetings Industry Association of Australia). Linda has held this position for the past three and a half years, during which time she has driven a positive change management process for the association.

Born in Belfast Northern Ireland and completing her schooling in Adelaide, Linda holds post-graduate studies through to a doctorate in business administration.
