Venue Awards

In the venue categories, the number of delegates refers to the maximum number of people who can attend a conference at your venue at any one time. This must include an ability to provide:

  • A plenary room capacity that fits within the size range of the category, plus
  • Break out facilities where those same people could attend smaller sessions at another time in the program, plus
  • Food and beverage service which will cater for those people.

For example, even if your largest plenary space holds more than 500 people theatre style, the category of Venue Between 150 and 500 may be more suitable if your break out rooms were not of a sufficient number or size-variety to comfortably accommodate 500 or more people.

Conversely, venues which can manage meetings and conference of more than 500 delegates given the above stipulations are only eligible to enter the More Than 500 Delegate category even though it would be clear that larger venues can also accommodate smaller events.

In entering a category, you must demonstrate in your submission that your venue can only comfortably cater to the delegate numbers specified in that category.

Submissions must focus on the management of conferences, meetings and business events. The venue attributes will only be assessed within this context. A venue can only enter one venue category. Thus, even though hotels and convention centres can also cater for special events, they are excluded from entering the speciality venue category.

Nominees should not emphasise the accommodation's star rating, but rather how the venue performs as a meetings facility.
