Entry Rules and Guidelines

Eligibility

The Meetings & Events Industry Awards are open to financial members and employees of financial members of MEA. The information included in your submission must apply to the qualifying period - from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008. Achievements outside of this timeframe will not be taken into account.

Submission guidelines

All submissions must include:

• Contact information of the nominated person who will receive correspondence about the submission
• Contact information of the CEO or a senior management representative who has viewed the completed submission and confirmed that it is a true and accurate representation and also permit MEA to reproduce photographs and the profile, and to pass on contact details to official members of the media pursuing legitimate stories resulting from the awards
• Payment (either by credit card, mail money order or cheque made out to MEA)
• Industry and supplier testimonials
• Have a minimum of two quality photographs (you can upload up to 4 photos if you wish) of not more than 2MB in total. The photos must be a maximum of 600x480 pixels and in a jpg format. The photo file name must be of a standard format, containing your company or individual name eg. MEA1.jpg; MEA2.jpg; jbloggs1.jpg; jbloggs2.jpg. These photographs are not part of your submission to be judged, however they may be used by MEA during awards events if your submission is a finalist or winner.
• To provide a 50 word or less description of the submission subject. This description does not form part of the submission but may be used in promotion of successful submission.

For categories other than the three individuals categories, the Submission Fee of $200.00 for the first category entered, plus $180.00 for each subsequent category entered, must accompany your nomination. The fee for the individual categories is $110 (GST incl).

A separate submission is required for each category entered. Each category has specific criteria which must be addressed. MEA wishes to inform entrants that similar or identical submissions nominated in different categories are rarely successful.

No submission is to include video tapes, CDs or computer disks on which supporting material is stored. These items will not be viewed by judges nor taken into consideration.

Submission Format

• Submissions must comply with format that has been provided as a downloadable document.
• The maximum number of pages for each answer is outlined on the submission document.
• The font must remain 12 and the spacing must remain single.
• The font must be Arial or Verdana
• All material that directly addresses a criteria heading must be included in the appropriate sections. Do not include this material as an appendix. MEA cannot guarantee that all support material will be taken into account when assessing submissions.
• Entrants must spell out acronyms and abbreviations in the first instance of it appearing in the submission.

Appendix: 

• All material that directly addresses a criteria heading must be included in the appropriate Section 1 or Section 2. Do not include this material as an appendix.
• An appendix should only contain supplementary information.  Judges may not refer to any material contained within the Apendix due to time constraints, and will not be read in order to obtain answers to criteria questions.
• Information contained in an appendix must be relevant to the Meetings & Events industry.

Page Length:

• Each question has a maximum page limit indicated on the criteria document. 
• Answers should not exceed these maximum lengths as judges are instructed to stop reading after the maximum page length has been reached.
