MEA Meetings & Events of the Year Awards

Association or Government Meeting of the Year

This is open to members (including venues, in-house meeting management departments and meetings management companies) working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations. The award is designed to recognise the individual or combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage a key association or government meeting or conference. This category is not restricted to any number delegates. This meeting can be hosted either locally or internationally. The meeting must be considered significant in achieving objectives through the challenges, complexities, imaginative use of resources, innovation, creativity and overall management. Projects must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. Joint entries from the meeting "owner", or Meetings Manager, Special Events Organiser, venue and other suppliers are encouraged as it is a team effort.

Corporate Meeting of the Year

This is open to members (including venues and meetings management companies) working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations. The award is designed to recognise the combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage a key corporate meeting or conference. This category is not restricted to any number of delegates. This meeting can be hosted either locally or internationally. Projects must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. Joint entries from the meeting "owner", or Meetings Manager, Special Events Organiser, venue and other suppliers are encouraged as it is a team effort.

Special Event of the Year

This is open to members (including special event management companies and other suppliers) working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations. We encourage joint entries from the event or production companies, and other key suppliers involved in the organisation of a special event, as it is a team effort. The award is designed to recognise the combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage an event other than a meeting or conference. For the purpose of this submission a Special Event is considered a one-time or infrequently occurring event of limited duration that provides consumers with leisure and social opportunities beyond their everyday experience.

Projects must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. The event must be considered significant through its multifaceted approach, in achieving objectives, through the imaginative use of resources, innovation and creativity.

Exhibition of the Year

This is open to members (including exhibition or event management companies) working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations. The award is designed to recognise the combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage an exhibition. An Exhibition is an event at which goods and services at a specific industry are exhibited. This could be either stand alone or a part of a business event.

Minimum exhibition size for this submission: no less than 100 exhibitors. Projects must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. The exhibition must be considered significant through its multifaceted approach, in achieving objectives, through the imaginative use of resources, innovation and creativity. Joint entries from the event or exhibition organisers, production companies, and other key suppliers are encouraged, as it is a team effort.

Incentive Reward of the Year

This is open to members who have been involved in the coordination and management of an incentive reward or event which is an integral part of an incentive reward (eg: gala dinner or other part of it) and it should relate to the focus of the incentive program (ie: to the theme or the client).

The incentive reward or event should involve only the incentive program participants, their partners and the management of the client. It should not involve other people outside the scope of the incentive program.
       
The incentive reward or event must be considered significant through its creative approach, in achieving the client’s objectives.

Entries will be considered from clients using in-house personnel, Event Managers, Meeting Managers, Incentive Practitioners that were appointed to manage the incentive reward or event companies that were contracted to stage the event.

The incentive program or event must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. Entrants must be current members of MEA.

Public Event of the Year (Including Festivals)

The award is designed to recognise the combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage a public event (including festivals). This is open to members working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations on production of public events and festivals. For the purpose of this submission public events are those that are open to the public or casual attendance; are not restricted by personal invitation of the host of the function; may involve the payment of a fee for admission for the function or for entertainment or services provided at the function and are publicly listed. Projects must have been completed in the qualifying period to be judged for this award. The event must be considered significant through its multifaceted approach, in achieving objectives, through the imaginative use of resources, innovation and creativity. Joint entries from different parties involved in the organisation of this event like production companies, and other key suppliers are encouraged, as it is a team effort.

Cause Related Event of the Year

This is open to members (including charity organisations, special event management companies and other suppliers) working in partnership with both member and non-member organisations. We encourage joint entries from charitable organisations and the event or production companies, and other key suppliers involved in the organisation of a cause related event as it is a team effort. The award is designed to recognise the combined team effort that is required to successfully plan, organise and manage a fundraising or a cause related event. For the purpose of this submission a Cause Related event is considered an event that is held with the direct purpose of raising awareness and/or raising funds for a charitable organisation. This event can be a one-time event or an annual event. It can involve the team efforts of both a for-profit organisation and non-for profit organisation for the benefit of the charitable organisation. The event must be considered significant through its multifaceted approach, in achieving objectives, through the imaginative use of resources, innovation and creativity.
