Q. Where will conference sessions be held?
All conference sessions are held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Pre-Conference sessions will be held at a venue to be confirmed soon.

Q. Where will the Gala Dinner be held?
The Gala Dinner will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Q. How much will the Conference cost?
All fees include 10% GST

Q. What's included in my conference registration fee?
Morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas are included in the registration fee on Monday 18 April and Tuesday 19 April. Social events on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings are included. Daily conference sessions with over 40 informative and entertaining speakers.

Q. What is a Category Forum and may I attend?
Formerly know as Special Interest Groups, these Forums are open to all delegates and are designed to discuss and review challenges and current issues in your specific industry sector eg: Exhibitions.

Q. What is the dress code for the conference?
During the conference days, smart casual attire is preferred.
For the social program, smart casual attire is recommended for both the welcome reception and the casual night. The minimum dress standard for the gala dinner is lounge suit or semi-formal.

Q. What is the climate for mid April?
The city is blessed with an enviable subtropical climate and an average of eight hours of sun per day making it the ideal holiday destination.

Summer (December to February) – Min average temp is 30.0C.
Autumn (March to May) – Min average temp is 16.4C and Max is 25.8C
Winter (June to August) – Min average temp is 10.10C and Max is 21.2C
Spring (September to November) – Min average temp is 15.6C and Max is 26.0C.

During the autumn months of March, April and May, the climate is particularly attractive and this is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Brisbane, with fine days, mild nights and generally very pleasant weather.

Q. Can I bring extra guests to the social events?
Additional tickets can be purchased for the MEA National Awards Night, up until Friday 9 April, 2011. Tickets for the Welcome Reception and Casual Dinner are available in full registration passes. Register on-line or contact MEA on 02 9929 5400 or via email at conference@mea.org.au

Q. Are hotel transfers available?
All hotels listed on this website are within walking distance to the convention centre. Therefore transfers to or from hotels will not be provided. More information regarding social activity transfers will be available closer to the event.

Q. Is my company able to book an exhibition space?
Yes, we invite you to exhibit your product or service in the conference trade exhibition. MEA 2011 exhibition will be situated in Great Hall 3 & 4 where refreshment breaks will be held.

Q. What Sponsorship opportunities are remaining as I would like to support the conference?

Q. May I book an advertisement in the conference handbook?
Yes, there is limited space available for advertising in the handbook. Please refer to the Sponsorship Prospectus for advertising costs.

REGISTRATION FEES & RELATED QUESTIONS

Q. How do I register for the conference?
Arinex will again be supporting MEA in managing the registration process, please refer to the registration page of this website to register for the conference.

Q. Is MEA membership required to attend the conference?
No, but there is a discount for MEA members. Why not become a MEA member and enjoy membership prices to the conference as well as many other benefits. To become a member of MEA please contact the MEA Office on (02) 9929 5400 and speak with the National Membership Coordinator. Email membership@mea.org.au.

Q. When do the early bird special rates end?
Early bird registration closes at midnight on Friday 4 February 2011.

Q. What is the cut-off date for registrations?
Registrations will close on Friday 9 April, 2011.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be made in writing to Meetings & Events Australia at conference@mea.org.au.

  1. Cancellations made before Monday 28 February 2011 will receive a refund less
    a $55 administration fee.
  2. Cancellations made from Monday 28 February 2011 to Monday 14 March 2011
    will receive a refund less $110 administration fee.
  3. Cancellations after Monday 14 March 2011 will receive no refund.
  4. No refunds will be issued until after the conference.
  5. Substitute names will be accepted. Substituting a delegate from the same
    organisation is welcome as long as MEA is notified by email
    by Friday 25 March 2011.
