MEA Research and Resources

One of the aims of Meetings & Events Australia is to put useful research and resouces in the hands of its members so that companies can plan effectively.

Available Resources

How to get the best out of your next meeting or event.
This industry guide for the professional management of conferences, meetings and events is a useful tool in bid documents for MEA members either via this downloadable version or via the glossy, colour printed hard copy version available from MEA.  The guide outlines the role of a meetings manager in the wider industry mix; lists the range of areas a Meetings Manager may cover; how to choose and brief a meetings manager; contract and commission information; benefits of using accredited meetings managers and associate-fellows; the MEA code of ethics; and more.  A pdf, downloadable version of this brochure is available (right click on the link then "save target as") or for the purchase of bulk orders please contact MEA or click on the Publications for Sales section at the bottom of this page.

Who will you be using to manage your next meeting, conference or event?
This shortened version of the Industry Guide (as outlined above) was created specifically for Accredited Meetings Managers for their use in bid documentation.  It is available in hard copy for all AMM's free of charge by contacting MEA and/or it can be downloaded as a pdf document (right click on the link then "save target as").

Accessible events – a guide for organisers
This Guide, which has been developed by the Meetings and Events Industry of Australia in partnership with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, is designed to help those responsible for organising events and to ensure they are accessible for people with disabilities - whether they are presenters, sponsors or participants.

Research Reports
In relation to research, over the last few years MEA has financially contributed to two significant research reports:

Meetings & Events Trend Analysis (META) META is a joint initiative of Southern Cross University, Amlink Technologies and MEA analysing the data from meetings managers' own event databases. For further information visit the META page.

National Business Events Study (NBES).  This was launched in December 2004, and provides a comprehensive summary of the size and worth of the business events industry, including meetings, exhibitions and incentives. For a summary of these statistics and more information on where you can obtain a full copy of the report, click here.

Publications on Sale
In addition to research, Meetings & Events Australia publishes a range of helpful materials including a directory for the meetings & events industry, and educational resources.  For a full product list click here.
