How do I join Y MEA?
Y MEA is a benefit of MEA membership (similar to ClubMEA and PD events) designed at providing a forum for networking and professional development aimed toward those in the industry who are 30 years of age and under. Attendance at Y MEA events is restricted to this age group.

 

You can be a part of this initiative if you are a MEA member, all you need to do is inform us you are 30 years of age and under and we will add you to our mailing list. Y MEA includes event organisers, conference organisers, in-house meeting coordinators/assistants, venue/hotel representatives, and other industry members and tertiary students studying events management.

 

I’m only starting my career, is Y MEA for me?
Yes, Y MEA has been established for people just like you. Y MEA offers a forum for ‘young’ like minded individuals to network and the events are designed to give you key skills to support the early stages of your career.

 

What are your events like?
Y MEA events combine a balance of networking, personal and professional development with activities, presenters and relevant topics aimed to suit the ‘young and upcoming’. Y MEA events are there to motivate. They present an opportunity for you to make new contacts, hear from passionate presenters within the industry whilst building your communication and networking skills and importantly to enjoy yourself in the process.

 

I’m uncomfortable networking, is Y MEA for me?
Our Y MEA members are very outgoing; they enjoy meeting new people, they are friendly and make new faces feel right at home. Our Y MEA committees in each state will always ensure that you are made to feel welcome and will introduce you to other guests during the events.

 

I am a MEA Member, how do I join?
If the company you work for is a member with MEA you can be a part of Y MEA – just attend the events in your state. Click here to inform us of your details so we can keep you up to date with Y MEA activities. It’s that easy!

 

Must I be a MEA member to go to events?
Y MEA is available to MEA members only. If you are not employed by a company who is a MEA member and are interested in joining, please contact our Membership Officer on 02 9929 5400. Non members may pay a non member rate and attend a Y MEA event once only before joining.

 

I’m a student, can I become a part of Y MEA?
If you are a full time student you may join MEA as a Student Member. Please contact our Membership Officer on 02 9929 5400.

 

Who’s behind Y MEA?
Our Y MEA events are run by state Y MEA committees and work with their state branch. Our committees are passionate volunteers who are 30 years and under, MEA Members are working within the meetings and events industry. Their assistance is invaluable to MEA as they help run the events, source presenters, staff the registration desks and provide support.
