Is there a weighting ratio to each of the questions?

There is no weighting ratio on questions.

How many attachments can I add?

The online portal only has space for three attachments to be uploaded. Please do not add any images, charts or graphs in the submission documents.

My team collarborted on an event with one of our other teams for an interstate office. What state do I apply in?

If an applicant with interstate offices wishes to submit an Award that has been delivered by more than one of their offices, they must only submit for the award in one state. This is generally that state in which the head office is located.

My event was held overseas but our company is Australian owned. Do we qualify for the MEA Awards?

Yes as you are an Australian owned company.

What are the payment options?

Once you have submitted your entry via the online portal, you will be taken to a payment gateway to make a payment or to request an invoice. All submission must be paid prior to the close off date.

What do the judges look for?

The judges are looking for content that addresses the criteria and provides concrete evidence of success.

Address all criteria - a number of excellent submissions in the past have not made the minimum benchmark due to the failure to address one or two of the criteria headings.

Most of what is asked for is fine, but how can I be sure it is kept confidential?

The Judges are required to sign a Confidentiality Declaration and Conflict of Interest agreement that ensures that they do not disclose any information from the Awards, and that they have no interest in the outcome of any particular Award Category.

The information sought is quite extensive. How can we put together the award submission in a reasonable timeframe?

As many award entrants will attest, the submissions are always the hardest the first time around.

The easiest thing is to work through the components and examples in turn and draft up a skeleton submission. Have other people on the team participate in remembering appropriate and relevant activities that would fall under the criteria headings.

Do entrants receive any feedback from the judges on their submissions?

A summary of comments made by the judges can be provided to each entrant on request. Scores are not provided to the entrants. The judging process is fully independent, and every effort is made to ensure fairness. Judges' feedback will not be available until the National Winners have been announced.

What do I do if I do not feel comfortable attaching my company's Business Plan to the submission?

The criteria document does not request a copy of a Business Plan. The Judges are required to sign a Confidentiality Declaration and Conflict of Interest agreement that ensures that they do not divulge any information from the Awards, and that they have no interest in the outcome of any particular Award Category.

What do I do if I would like to write more than the allocated maximum word number for a particular question?

Judges are instructed to stop reading the response to a question when the word limit has been reached, due to time constraints and unfair advantage. It is imperative that the question is answered within the limit to ensure that the optimum number of marks can be obtained. Supporting documentation contained in the appendix may or may not be read, so this should not be used as an avenue to extend the response page limit.

Can I/we enter these awards if I/we are non-members?

Yes. As at 2019, the Awards have been opened up for non-members to apply. Members receive a discounted rate for entries, so if you are interested in learning more about becoming a member and the range of benefits that membership offers, please email awards@mea.org.au
