When do the courses run?

Students may join the course at any stage of the year. Each student starts with two pre-requisite units of competency that they must complete prior to joining the next module. Module open approximately every 8 weeks, depending on the size of the module.

How long does the course take?

The course is designed to be completed over a 75-week period that also allows for breaks over Christmas and Easter. Regular non-teaching weeks are also included at the close of each module to allow for students to catch up, re-group or just take a break.

What do I get at the end?

Upon completion of all 20 units of competency you receive a nationally recognised Diploma of Event Management.

What is the format of the course and where are the classes?

Content for each unit is delivered via an online learning management system (LMS) with additional tutorial time delivered weekly via online video calls. Assessments are delivered, uploaded and marked via the LMS with some assessments completed via face to face online calls with trainers.

What is a Module?

A Module is a cluster of units that are delivered and assessed together to create a realistic snapshot of working in the events industry. Modules range from two to four units and the time allocated for each module is adjusted accordingly.

Can I choose my electives?

MEA does not currently offer a choice of electives. The electives we have included in the course have been chosen to meet the skills gaps identified in the industry. Applying these units to a Major Project assessment of choice ensures that every student gains the most relevant knowledge, skills and experience to meet their ongoing career challenges.

If the answer to your question isn't above, please email Jo Child, MEA's National Education Manager who will help find the answer on education@mea.org.au.
