Based at Randwick Racecourse and reporting into the Senior Business Development Manager, the Business Development Manager will plan, direct, and generate race day and meeting and event sales at Royal Randwick (RR), Rosehill Gardens (RG) and other ATC venues by identifying target market segments, understanding customers ‘needs and contributing to the development of tailored race day hospitality products to maximise revenue and achieve business objectives.

The position also works with the wider Race Day sales and sponsorship teams to share leads and market information and ensure internal partnership opportunities are optimised.

Key objectives of the role include:

  • Drive the sales of Royal Randwick (RR), Rosehill Gardens (RG) and other ATC venues race day hospitality products and meeting and events offering, identifying suitable solutions to attract customers.
  • Drive a culture of excellence in day-to-day operations, ensuring delivery of seamless service from the initial enquiry
  • Assist in conducting product costing and budgeting analysis which entails full financial analysis and post-event evaluation of each race day hospitality product/package
  • Manage all required sales processes and administrative duties for sales including booking confirmations, payments, contracts, and EBMS database management
  • Actively seek and approach new clients, which will involve coordinating telemarketing and direct mail activities
  • Maintain industry networks and keep abreast of current developments and trends in the thoroughbred racing industry to allow for exchange of ideas and information
  • Maintain and monitor all aspects of race day sales operations at ATC venues to ensure adherence to all set rules, policies, and procedures of the club.


To be successful in the role, the right candidate will possess:

  • Experience in new business generation via marketing and sales initiatives to increase hospitality sales and sponsorship acquisition
  • Experience in account management role which involves identifying and assessing leads and business opportunities and securing profitable transactions
  • Sound understanding of the process of developing new and innovative hospitality offerings from concept, design, pricing, market analysis including demographic targets.
  • Demonstrated sales success in meeting and/or exceeding revenue targets and KPI’s
  • Demonstrated experience working in commercial venues within the hospitality, events, entertainment, tourism and/or leisure and recreation industry
  • Demonstrated capability articulating and driving operational plans within a complex environment
  • Understanding the Government policy, direction, regulation, and objectives particularly in relation to racing
