WHAT IS A REGISTERED TRAINING ORGANISATION (RTO)?

An RTO is registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national regulator for Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) sector. RTOs are recognised as providers of quality-assured and nationally recognised training and qualifications.

In performing as an RTO, MEA delivers nationally recognised training and assessment primarily to the tourism, hospitality, meetings and events industry sectors. MEA is currently offering the SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management.

WHY IS AN RTO IMPORTANT?

Units of competency and full qualifications delivered through a registered training organisation must meet strict standards for the delivery of training and show consistent initiatives to ensure currency of content and continuous improvement. The course’s core and elective units have the knowledge elements and assessment requirements set by ASQA to ensure that units are consistent in content and assessment standards across Australia. A unit of competency gained from an RTO in Perth will be the same standard, addressing the same knowledge and skills as the same unit being delivered online or in Melbourne. All qualifications or individual units of competency completed through an RTO must be recognised by all other RTOs and may contribute to further qualifications (depending on ASQA qualification requirements).
