A MESSAGE FROM MEA

G’day, and thanks for your interest in Meetings & Events Australia’s (MEA’s) upcoming annual conference, Evolve.

In 2023 we’re returning to Australia’s favourite playground, Queensland’s Gold Coast, for the first time in a long time.

We’ll be delivering a 1½ day program of learning via a blend of plenary and breakout sessions pretty much smack bang in the middle of the Gold Coast at “Australia’s five-star fun-parlour”, The Star Gold Coast, over 7 and 8 June. We’ve got some great content planned, which will be delivered in a variety of formats. The ‘Program’ page of this site will be regularly updated as presenters and topics are confirmed. So, keep coming back to stay up to date with how you joining us will be advantageous for your professional growth and development.

As the sun sets on the evening of June 7, we’ll be bussing delegates a touch down the coast to hold our Welcome Reception at “the ultimate destination by the ocean”, the iconic Burleigh Pavilion.

And back this year is the MEA Awards national presentation dinner, which will also be held at The Star Gold Coast on the night of 8 June, where the best of the best across Australia's events industry throughout 2021 and 2022 will be recognised over 7 categories in a ballroom full of their peers.

Throughout Evolve, you'll have plenty of opportunities to catch up with industry friends, make new ones, do business, and create fresh leads at one of the largest gatherings of event professionals in Australia. The social value of our conference is indisputable and unparalleled.

The dates we’ve scheduled allow for a fabulous working holiday opportunity. The Monday beforehand is a public holiday in WA, and the Monday afterward a public holiday nationally other than in WA and Queensland. So potentially a bit of R&R enjoying the relaxed lifestyle and unique attractions of the GC can be on the cards as a mid-year break too. All that’s needed is a tack on of a couple of leave days adjacent to the long weekends whilst you’re already there for work.

I’m a big believer in supporting those who support you, so I commend all our event sponsors as a first point of contact for future events to anyone visiting this site or attending as a delegate. Destination Gold Coast will be an excellent starting point for local needs. To become a sponsor or exhibitor and therefore potentially be the business our site visitors and delegates support, take a look at the prospectus.

There are of course those who won’t be able to get to the Gold Coast and attend the conference in person. In the interests of ensuring that everyone who wants to participate can, and as we seek to support the entire industry workforce, we are again delivering in hybrid mode. This means virtual access to the content program is a registration option.

I’m very much looking forward meeting as many delegates as I can and putting faces to names. Please seek me out and say a g’day back.

Peter McDonald
CEO, Meetings & Events Australia
